grad school project: Rush Hour Rhumba

2009. This was a project for a social marketing class as part of my Health Communication degree. I was noticing how during rush hour on the MBTA (the Boston subway system) people would often be left on the platforms when there was still room in the train, because the people on the train did not move into the train. This project looked at trying to inspire different behavior in this specific area, but allowed me to explore much more far-reaching literature about how to promote pro-social behavior. How to come together to maximize the good for as many people as possible. It's quite depressing when you think of the big problems facing mankind that someone won't step three steps further into a train to make room for a few more people. It's a key problem to solve for any sort of social mobilization.
