design work for Shakespeare in the Parking Lot: Richard III
I had done production design work for director David Levine on a few other plays. This setting was spectacular, though. Shakespeare in the Parking Lot takes place in the Lower East Side, and David bought a car that someone mounted chairs to, so that the moving car was a combination of throne and R3. It was pretty cool. I made a "car skirt" that connected the king to the car, so they would fuse.
Richard III had a deformed spine, thus the translation to handicapped parking symbol.
